The Spirit of the Fallen Star

{A FALLEN STAR}

WRITTEN BY: ARLINE WIRTZ

 A star has fallen.

From the sky.

To be picked up by a

Little Indian girl.

"A Dreamer", the tribes people call

Her.

The little girl’s name is Moonrise.

That is what her father calls her.

Moonrise explained to her mother

About the star that fell to earth.

Her mother explained to Moonrise that she

Is chosen to be the Star’s bride.

Moonrise in an exited voice said to her

Mother;

"Mother, I am too young to be the Star’s bride!"

Mother said to Moonrise;

"Not to worry, My Child,

for many Moons have to pass before you can be the

Star’s bride."

"When many moons pass you will know when you are

older and watch for the signs along the way."

"And then you will know."

Moonrise asked her mother; "What signs should I

Watch for?"

"When one lone eagle flys over the village and many buffalo

gather by the big oak tree near the stream,

then you will know it is time."

As Moonrise grew and got older,

She saw one lone eagle flying over the village.

And as she was walking by the stream she saw many

Buffalo gather by the old oak tree near that same stream.

Moonrise ran home to tell her parents what she

Saw.

Her father said; "It is time for you to marry your

Fallen star."

The spirit of the star will be here soon and we

must be ready.

While all were sitting in the family’s teepe,

voices were heard outside.

The men got up to see what the voices were

about.

The village people were all in a surprise to see

this stranger ride into the village.

He was asking to see the father of Moonrise.

Moonrise’s father walks toward the stranger

And says to the stranger; " I am him."

"I am the Fallen Star that your daughter saw that fell

to earth, I am the Spirit of the Star."

"We are from the Coyote Clan.

My wife, White Deer, sons Long River and Running

Deer.

Come in and we will speak.

We will prepare the wedding festival and ceremony."

Fallen Spirit entered the Coyote Clan’s teepee.

The wedding took place in the village

That following day.

The village is decorated all in splendor.

Moonrise is all dressed in her ceremonial

Wedding dress.

The bead work was done by the

Women of the village.

The beadwork looks like little stars shinning

In the moonlight.

Fallen Star

Is all dressed in his full ceremonial

Headdress and his outfit decorated by

The Spirits of the Stars.

Beautiful whites and yellows.

Embroided bead work done by the Moon

And the Planets.

As they approached each other,

Light became darkness.

The stars lit up the whole sky.

The moon shined bright.

Brighter than ever before!

The stars twinkled like playing a song

For the two.

The constellations were out in full honor of the

Wedding of Moonrise and Fallen Star.

The Planets! Especially Saturn shone her beautiful

Bright rings in honor of the wedding.

Jupiter was out to welcome them as well.

All the planets were out in full honor of the two.

Welcoming Moonrise into the Family of the Stars!

As the vows were exchanged.

Something wonderful is happening!

Fallen Star took Moonrise’s hand in his hand.

The most beautiful light came down from the universe

To encircle the two after the vows were exchanged.

As if in a gravitational pull

They were lifted up and carried away to his home among

The stars!

On any given night when the stars are bright,

And the planets are aligned,

You can see shooting stars chasing each

Other.

That is Fallen Star and Moonrise chasing each

Other over the Universe!
